YMCA REOPENING

As required by Governor Walz's Executive Order 20-81, face coverings/masks must be worn indoors in all public spaces.

Beginning Saturday, July 25, you must be wearing a face covering/mask to visit the YMCA.

Masks must be worn in all common areas and when not exercising. Masks are not required when exercising or swimming.

Lifeguards and group exercise instructors will not be wearing masks due to the requirements of their position. Please maintain 6 feet of physical distancing when speaking with the instructor or lifeguard.

Our hours are: Monday - Friday 5:00am - 1:00pm, 2:00pm - 7:00pm

Spaces Available:

  • Upstairs Fitness Facility (weight machines and cardio equipment)
  • Walking Track
  • Free Weight Room
  • Racquetball Courts by reservation,
  • Limited use of locker rooms (shower/change only with exception of rented lockers)
  • Land Group Exercise Classes Monday-Friday by reservation, check the class schedule for times
  • Swimming pool for Lap Swim times, and Self-Guided Adult Rehab Swim, by reservation, 
  • Water Group Exercise Classes, by reservation, 
  • Singles Pickleball
  • Limited availability of Basketball hoops-must bring a personal basketball, no games, 2 people max on a hoop, 30 minutes slots
  • Paid Day Passes, guest passes, and YMCA members from other Ys are welcome in the building.

Moving forward, we will be opening our spaces in a phased approach so the Y might look a bit different initially.


The Fergus Falls YMCA YMCA is currently allowed to open at 25% of space capacity.  We are welcoming 45 members in the building at one time. 

Make sure you are feeling well enough to visit. If you have been experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed, please stay home and contact your healthcare provider. 

Members will be asked to:

  • Practice physical distancing
  • Wipe down the machines or touch areas BEFORE and AFTER use
  • Wear a face covering. It is not required but encouraged to wear in common areas. Masks do not need to be worn while exercising.
  • Check-in at the front door and check out while exiting through the side door
  • Come prepared. During phase 1, locker rooms/lockers will not be available.

Will I be screened?

Before you enter the YMCA, you will be asked two questions. You must answer these questions every time you visit. If your answers determine that you cannot enter, we will ask you to return home and contact your healthcare provider.

  • Have you had one or more of the following new symptoms since the last time you were here that you cannot attribute to another health condition?
    • Fever (100.4˚ F or higher), or feeling feverish?
    • Chills?
    • A new cough?
    • Shortness of breath?
    • A new sore throat?
    • New muscle aches?
    • New headache?
    • New loss of smell or taste?
  • Have you been exposed to anyone that is sick or has the symptoms listed above or has been diagnosed with COVID-19?

 How do I make a reservation?

We will be implementing a reservation system at some point in the near future. Until that happens, please contact the respective person via email to set up the reservation. You should receive an email confirmation.

All reservations must be made by 2pm the day prior. Reservations can only be made for the next day and only 1 slot per day. For Monday reservations, please email by 2pm on Sunday.

Racquetball reservations: 6:30am-7:30am, 10:00am-11:00am, 11:30am-12:30pm, 5:30pm-6:30pm

  • 6:15am-7:00am- Monday and Wednesday, Body Pump- Please indicate what weights you would like set out for you when emailing Stacey for your reservation
  • 6:15-7:00am Tuesday and Thursday, Outdoor Cycling 
  • 5:00pm-6:00pm, Monday through Thursday, rotation between Insanity, Zumba, and Zumba STRONG,

 What else should I know?

Other areas, amenities, and programs will open in a phased approach and will return gradually.

Members/guests should limit themselves to 60 minutes in the building.

Running will not be allowed on the walking track, but IS allowed on the treadmills. The walking track and cardio/weight areas are ONE-WAY. Please walk all the way around the track when you wish to exit the area. We are working hard to avoid face to face contact.

When entering or leaving the free weight area, please allow only one person on the stairway at a time to avoid coming face to face with another member.

Always bring your card/barcode to check in and out.

You MUST wipe your equipment/machines down before and after use.


Who can visit the Y?

All active membership units are welcome to come back and use the Y. Those memberships on hold must remove their hold status before coming back. To remove the hold status, please use the same form that was used to activate the hold status. You can find that HERE

Nationwide members are encouraged to visit their home YMCA but will have access to the Fergus Falls YMCA. Please inform the member services staff that you are from another YMCA.

Community members and visitors wishing to buy or use a day/week pass are welcome to visit. 

While children are always welcome at the YMCA, at this time, children 14 and under are encouraged to stay active at home. 


What is the Y doing to keep members and staff safe?

The Y has taken many precautions to serve our members and keep them as safe as possible. We have:

  • Trained the staff according to CDC, WHO, and MDH guidelines
  • Increased access to hand sanitizer and equipment cleaner
  • Installed plexiglass at the front desk
  • Required staff to wear face coverings (masks) and members are encouraged to wear face coverings (when not working out)
  • Reduced capacity to allow for physical distancing
  • More space (6 feet) in between exercise equipment
  • Reduced hours to allow for thorough cleaning and sanitizing, including a mid-day closure for a deep clean.
  • Implemented a phased approach for opening various spaces and programs
  • Installed temporary partitions in front of cardio equipment
  • Regularly scheduled cleaning of available equipment.

To ensure member's health and safety, we are implementing these protocols to reduce health risks to our members, program participants, and staff. We also strongly ask that our members also do their own part to ensure their own health and safety by wiping down equipment before and after, practicing physical distancing, and paying attention to their own health.
