Looking for Virtual Workouts while the Y is closed? We've got you covered!
UPDATE Afternoon March 20, 2020
Dear Valued Y Community,
These are indeed difficult times for everyone in the community. Many have been impacted by the recent efforts of the nation to slow the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. State and Federal government are continuing to concentrate on ways to support the nation. The Fergus Falls YMCA is doing the same!
Our community has been extremely supportive of the YMCA and its mission. Your continued support is crucial to our efforts to work with the community to provide services throughout the community.
The recent mandate to temporarily close our facility has not slowed our continued service of the community. We are continuing to reach out into the community to fill gaps that have been created in the recent days. This is the charge of YMCAs across the country and we are no different.
Today, more than ever, the Y is demonstrating that it is more than a fitness facility and you are more than just a member/donor!
Now, more than ever in the over 51 years of your Y, is it clear that your membership/donations are going directly to aiding your community! The Fergus Falls YMCA is partnering with state and local community leaders to provide the following:
We are reaching out to you to ask you to continue to partner with us so we can continue to work on relieving the burden the community is facing. This cannot happen without your support. Please recognize the significant impact of what your membership/donation truly does for this community.
We’re asking you to continue to support us on our mission. Our doors may have been forced to temporarily close but our work and our mission has not. Please continue to stay with us as we continue to invest in our community. Keeping your membership active is crucial during this difficult time.
UPDATE Evening March 16, 2020
Dear YMCA community,
In response to Governor Tim Walz's recent press conference this evening, the Fergus Falls YMCA will close at 5 pm on Tuesday, March 17th through Friday, March 27. The Y is pivoting its resources to help lift up the community through this crisis by continuing to provide essential school aged child care (Age 5 through Grade 6). We are all in a communal effort to get through this current crisis brought on by the COVID-19 virus and the Y will continue its history of supporting communities.
As we work to fill these critical gaps, we greatly appreciate our members and donors who partner with us. The Fergus Falls YMCA has served this community for over 51 years thanks to the support of the community. As we work through this current situation, your support is essential to us continuing to help this great community in this uncertain time. As the Y looks to fill the needs of the community, we thank you our members/donors for making answering the need possible.
The Y will closely monitor the ongoing updates and continue to work both locally and nationally. Please continue to monitor the news for important updates in regards to your safety. Together as a community, we will remain strong and vibrant.
Please continue to monitor our website, Facebook page and mobile app for updates and changes. We appreciate your support and understanding as we work through this together.
UPDATE Morning March 16, 2020
In light of the uncertainty created by the increased impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), closure of schools and recommendations of Government and public health organizations, we have decided to temporarily suspend all programming at the Fergus Falls Area Family YMCA.
As of 12 noon today, group fitness classes, swimming lessons, sports programming, Interactive Learning Center, water fitness classes, child watch, etc. will be temporarily suspended. We will continue to provide school age child care for registered participants in need of care. The pool will remain open until 7:00pm tonight and will be closed beginning tomorrow (Tuesday, March 17). Although we are closely monitoring the situation, we are aligning with the Fergus Falls School District’s plan to remain suspended through March 27. We recommend that you continue to monitor our website, Facebook, and mobile app for updates and possible changes.
Keeping our community healthy and safe is our number one priority. We ask that anyone who is experiencing any illness or symptoms or may have been in contact with someone experiencing symptoms to continue to practice social distancing, self-quarantine, and appropriate hygiene.
We ask families to please be aware that we are trying to give the community options. With schools being closed, it is even more important to keep the Y and members safe. As such, we will be monitoring youth facility usage closely.
We appreciate your understanding. The Fergus Falls Area Family YMCA is committed to serving the needs of our community. We take these decisions very seriously. They are made with the most current information we have and a passionate desire to do what is best for the community we serve.
If you have any questions, please contact us. We will be posting updates and changes to our website, Facebook page, and mobile app.

UPDATE Evening March 13, 2020
Dear YMCA Community,
The health and safety of YMCA members is our top priority. We are sending this email in the spirit of wellness for our members and the community and in alignment with CDC recommendations. With the flu and other respiratory illnesses commonly circulating publicly during the winter months, we always closely monitor information from public health officials and other experts in the field, and follow their prevention guidelines to help keep our YMCA clean and safe for everyone.
As there are growing concerns about the spread of flu and respiratory illnesses, including the coronavirus, we want to share how the Y, with your help, is keeping you and your family and friends healthy and safe. We wanted to take a moment to remind everyone of general precautions you and your family can take to stay well and keep our community safe:
We also encourage you to practice healthy habits by eating right, staying hydrated, exercising regularly and getting enough sleep. Practicing healthy habits can be extremely helpful to maintain/improve your health and wellbeing.
For more information on how to prevent and prepare for flu and respiratory illnesses, and coronavirus, we encourage you to visit the web sites for the Minnesota Department of Health, the CDC and the World Health Organization.
We will continue to communicate with you as needed on key updates as we work closely with public health officials and appreciate your support in providing a healthy, safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
Thank you for your cooperation! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the YMCA.
